Some celebrants specialise in only weddings or only funerals. I trained in both areas to become a Wedding/family celebrant and a funeral celebrant.
I chose to be an Independent Civil Celebrant, conducting ceremonies, which are usually non-religious and people focussed. Independent Celebrant ceremonies can contain any wording at all, whether it be religious, spiritual or personal. It is often a combination of all three, but ultimately, it’s whatever the client wishes.
We are all professionally trained to a high standard, by various bodies, I chose the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants, and we are covered by personal and business insurance. Celebrant fees vary across the country and can be dependent on various factors, I always advertise my celebrant fees up front, they can be found on my website.
Let’s take a look at the ceremonies I conduct in a bit more depth.
Weddings
A fabulous option if couples are looking for a less formal, relaxed and inclusive atmosphere, in a venue of their choice, it does not need to be licensed, and I am often found in a field or tee pee!
Although I can create and conduct personalised weddings, a wedding Celebrant cannot legally marry a couple. They’d need to visit a registrar in order to arrange the more formal side of things.
For each wedding ceremony, there are no scripts and no templated words. Each one is unique and led by the couple, whom I form a relationship with my couples/families over the time we start our journey together. This is the part of the job that I enjoy the most. I’m definitely a people person and I love finding out what makes their relationship special and then conveying this through my words. I am based in Warwickshire, between Coventry and Rugby, and very near to Leamington Spa, and travel across the counties nearby to conduct weddings and vow renewals, visiting areas such as Worcestershire, Leicestershire and the West Midlands
Vow Renewal Ceremony
A vow renewal is whatever you want to make of it, and the benefit of having a Celebrant conduct the ceremony is that we can make it as individual and bespoke as the couple you are. Whether you are celebrating ten, twenty or forty years of marriage, a vow renewal is a fabulous way to celebrate with family and friends.
Naming Ceremony
If you are not religious a naming ceremony provides a personalised alternative to a christening or baptism, for people who do want to do something special to celebrate the arrival of their baby in a more meaningful touching way. Instead of having ‘Godparents’, you can have ‘Guide-parents’ to make pledges of support during the ceremony.
We can perform a beautiful ceremony in your own home, or another venue to suit you.
Celebration of Life Funeral Services
I mainly conduct celebration of life services, which can include some religion if the client wishes, acting as a funeral officiant I am independent civil celebrant all of my services are very people focussed.
